Reasons for Not Funding
LAUC is unable to fund all proposals, unfortunately. Read below for more information regarding reasons a project may not be funded.
Common application problems: the R&PD receives many proposals that do not meet other funding criteria. LAUC/UCOP has not funded and will not fund proposals that:
- are missing any necessary approvals
- are not substantially related to research
- are primarily for digitizing and do not make a compelling case that the digitization process itself is the subject of the research
- are for preservation and/or microfilming and do not make a compelling case that the process of preservation/microfilming itself is the subject of the research
- are data entry projects
- involve the day-to-day work of a library unit, section, department, or individual
- are for planning meetings among individuals involved in projects, especially if the individuals already have established venues for meeting times and places
- include funds to pursue a degree
- involve lab work, unless it supports an underlying research project
- include honoraria, unless they contribute to the research aspects of a project
- predominantly involve consultants or researchers outside the Librarian series
