Stephanie Labou, UC San Diego Data Science Librarian, was elected to a four-year term as USA Member at Large for IASSIST (International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology), an international organization of professionals who advance information technology and data services to support research and teaching. LAUC members might be interested in some of the free IASSIST webinars on various data-related topics such as analysis tools, visualization, integration of genAI, and curation. Plus, the annual conference will be virtual this year, so if anyone is interested in learning more about data, this would be a good year to attend.

Sibyl Schaefer, UC San Diego Climate Data and Digital Preservation Librarian, had an exceptionally productive year, with numerous professional accomplishments. Just to name a few, she served as a Lightning Talk presenter for “Limits to Growth: Using Models to Assist in Scenario Planning for Digital Preservation” at the International Conference on Digital Preservation (iPres). As an invited keynote speaker for the Getty/Digital Preservation Coalition Convening, Sibyl presented “Sustainability and the Metacrisis: Deconstructing Modernity to Identify Root Causes.”
