Whether you are new to the profession or just new to campus, the LAUC-LA Mentoring & Orientation Committee provides support for new UCLA librarians. A representative from the committee provides helpful information during an introductory meeting, and mentoring programs are available to help librarians thrive in their new positions.
The committee has also created a resource with links (coming soon!) to help new colleagues find library and campus information.
The Peer Review Documentation Committee organizes annual workshops and drop-in help sessions to support librarians who are undergoing peer review. These sessions highlight any changes to the process, and provide an opportunity for librarians to ask questions of the University Librarian and colleagues who are knowledgeable about peer review.
The Mentoring and Orientation Committee also offers peer review-focused mentoring to support librarians. Peer review mentors can offer advice on appropriate peer review actions, review documentation, and answer general questions about the process.
Research and Professional DevelopmentThe Research & Professional Development committee works with LAUC Statewide to administer research grants for librarians. These grants provide support for research projects or funding for librarians to present on completed research. More information can be found on the Grants Guidelines page. The Research & Professional Development committee also administers an annual UCLA Libraries Research Forum, an internal event that provides an opportunity for library staff to share their research with colleagues. Documentation from past Research Forums can be found on the UCLA Library's Research Forum eScholarship page. |
