Remembering Pauline Manaka
An updated message, from Lorelei Tanji, University Librarian at UCI Libraries:
As you all know, we recently lost a dear colleague in Pauline Manaka. Pauline touched many lives within the UCI Libraries, across the campus, and in the community.
Here is an official statement on our public website.
There is also a memorial page for colleagues and friends to submit and view memories of Pauline. Cynthia will share the page with Pauline’s family, and some of the memories might be shared at the upcoming memorial event.
A memorial event honoring and celebrating Pauline’s life will take place on Monday, August 28, at UCI (more details at the official statement above). If you have submitted a memory, you will receive information automatically about the memorial. Alternatively, you may submit your email address here to be added to the invitation list. Note: All UCI Libraries employees will automatically receive an invitation to the memorial event, and do not need to complete the form.
[Original post:]
Dan Tsang shares the sad news that his colleague and friend, Pauline Manaka, a Research Librarian for Anthropology, Sociology, and Demography & Social Analysis at UC Irvine, recently passed away. Pauline "reached the pinnacle of her profession (by serving on the Council of the American Library Association) and more importantly, became a strong voice for social justice."
Our condolences to Pauline's family, friends and colleagues.
